Lewis Black doesn’t usually shy away form any political targets. But fans of his know that he hardly ever touches on one of comedy’s favorite vixens: Sarah Palin.
On the latest episode of “The Green Room With Paul Provenza,” Black elaborated on the subject and explained his reasoning behind leaving Palin alone. He of all people understands that she is “a mother lode” when it comes to political humor post-2008, but he isn’t interested in mocking her. Why?
Sarah Palin documentary “The Undefeated” won’t be budged from its 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Even “Gigli” could do better than that.
Another film that shares this honor is “Ballistic – Ecks vs. Sever” — an action film starring Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu — with 108 reviews damning it to critical hell.
Based off Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the worst films from the first 10 years of the decade, films that have come close to the coveted 0 percent rating include “Alone in the Dark,” sitting at 1 percent, “Battlefield Earth” at 2 percent,”Twisted,” also at 2 percent, and “Because I Said So,” which snatched a whole 5 percent.
The more curious thing is, many of these badly review films still got some love from their audiences — “Because I Said So” gained a considerable 68 percent, “Twisted” got 40 percent and even “Ballistic – Ecks vs. Sever” got almost a quarter of its audience to back it. However, “The Undefeated” sits unmoved at 0 percent on that front as well, based off 732 user ratings. We’ll let you know if anyone dares say something good about it.
We’ve talked about it before,” said the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. “Some things just need to stay in the family.”
The remarks come the same day as the potential presidential candidate heads to the key primary state of Iowa for the premiere of a documentary on her tenure as governor. News of the film has stirred speculation about what plans, if any, the elder Palin has in the works for 2012.
Earlier this week, Bristol Palin said during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she’d be excited if her mother decided to launch a campaign for the White House in 2012.
“I think she’s smart,” the younger Palin said of her mother. “I think she would be awesome for our country.”
Sarah Palin weighed in on news of embattled Congressman Anthony Weiner’s (D-N.Y.) decision to resign after becoming embroiled in an online sexual scandal.
“From henceforth after his personal indiscretions were disclosed, he was going to be rendered impotent basically in Congress and he wasn’t going to be effective,” said the former Alaska governor when asked if she thought Weiner could have fulfilled his political responsibilities despite the controversy. “Obviously it was the right thing to do. Day late dollar short though, I think he should have resigned when all of this came to light.”
Palin said that the constituents of Weiner’s New York district “deserve better.”
During the segment, Palin also addressed the recent release of thousands of emails she sent and received during her tenure as governor of Alaska. The documents were disclosed in response to requests made by media organizations and individuals under the state public records law during the 2008 presidential election.
“Daily Show,” when he criticized the media for making mountains out of boring correspondence.
The 24-hour news cycle had a field day Friday speculating as to what, if any, secrets would be revealed about the former Vice Presidential candidate. For the first time in weeks, the attention wasn’t all on Anthony Weiner or his wiener, although in his speculation about the emails, Stewart definitely went there (“What if they’re all Twitter d**k pictures?”).
So why the arbitrary release of such non-urgent documents? Was there really anything hiding in them? One example of the “bombshells” uncovered was an email from a former legislator claiming she saw Palin put her son Trig in the wrong kind of car seat.
24,000 pages, the dispatch comes in response to requests from media organizations, as well as individuals, under the state public records law during the 2008 presidential election. The emails were exchanged from when Palin first took office in December of 2006 through September of 2008. Emails sent by the former governor in the subsequent ten months through her resignation are expected to be disclosed at a later date.
During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, Palin said that she’s not concerned that the emails being released could produce any damaging revelations.
“I think every rock in the Palin household that could ever be kicked over and uncovered anything, it’s already been kicked over,” she explained. “I don’t think there’s anything private in our family now. A lot of those emails obviously weren’t meant for public consumption. They are between staff members. They’re probably between family members.”
The former governor added, “They’ll never truly know what the context of each one of the emails was, or each one of the issues were that I was working on that day, or in that time period.”
2012 presidential candidate was in Boston on Thursday as part of her bus tour when she was asked about the Revolutionary War hero.
Palin said Revere “warned the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms.”
Palin, a paid Fox News contributor, told “Fox News Sunday” that she was correct. She says there were British soldiers in the area for years before Revere’s legendary ride, and that he was warning them, as well as his fellow colonists.
“Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there that ‘hey, you’re not going to take American arms, you are not going to beat our own well-armed persons individual private militia that we have.’”
She blamed her previous answer on the media, saying it was a “gotcha question.”
The Paul Revere House’s website says that on April 18, 1775, Dr. Joseph Warren instructed Revere to ride to Lexington, Mass., to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching to arrest them.
New York City when fake presidential candidate Donald Trump met up with semi-fake presidential candidate Sarah Palin to discuss whatever it is that wealthy pseudo-celebrities discuss when they’re not out creating pseudo-events other than the one they’re creating by meeting up in the first place.
And Trump really rolled out the red carpet for Palin, taking her and her family out for a slice of pizza at Famous Famiglia’s in Times Square, whose fare has recently been described as “a slice that tastes like a manila folder with Ragu slathered all over it.”
Stewart’s audience loudly concurring, Stewart went on an extended rant in which he joked that Famiglia’s could also be found at “terminal four of the Phoenix airport,” offered up several more authentic pizza options, critcized Trump’s slice stacking, finally reaching a height of apoplexy at the sight of Trump going at his pie with a fork, as if he were from outer space or something. Then Stewart moved on to a proper demonstration of both New York-style pizza-eating technique and New York City-style profanity, before concluding: “Based on how you eat pizza, Donald, I want to see your long form birth certificate. I don’t think you were really born in New York.”
One thing that Stewart didn’t touch on was why Trump, who is ostensibly a rich and well-connected man, would drag Palin to Time Square to eat at a chain restaurant. Well, as Village Voice music editor Maura Johnston recalled on Wednesday, “Just FYI, Palin and Trump’s visit to Famous Famiglia was also a little bit of synergy with The Celebrity Apprentice.” Indeed, various Celebrity Apprentice “stars” were dispatched to Famiglia’s 8th and Broadway location back in October, to promote the show.
Sunday in launching a bus tour that will take her across the eastern United States.
The former Alaska governor took part in the “Rolling Thunder” motorcycle ride, which starts at the Pentagon and finishes at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC.
